Gérald Melanson, 78, of Foyer St-Thomas, St-Joseph, formerly of Dover, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Monday, May 28, 2001 after a lengthy illness.

Born in Pré-d'en-Haut, he was the son of the late Adolphe Melanson and the late Emma Belliveau. He was fork lift operator at #5.

He is survived by four daughters, Claudette (Armand) Melanson, Scoudouc, Simonne (Clarence) Gould, Annette (Rodolphe) LeBlanc, Ruth Melanson, all of Memramcook Est.; nine sons, Raymond (Agnès) Melanson, Dover, Ronald (Emma) Melanson, Bouctouche, Roger (Dora) Melanson, Memramcook Est., Charles Melanson, Dover, Michel (Charline) Melanson, Pré-d'en-Haut, Gaston (Debbie) Melanson, Memramcook, Gilles (Annette) Melanson, Dover, Armand (Dianne) Melanson, Stoney Plain, AB, Normand (Christine) Melanson, Oromocto; three sisters, Laurette (late Régis) Lirette, Shediac, Irène (Alyre) Gautreau, Exilia (Emile) Gautreau, both of Pré-d'en-Haut; one brother, Yvon (Bernice) Melanson, Pré-d'en-Haut; 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Oliva (Gautreau) Melanson; one sister, Eva; two brothers, Eugène, Alyre.

Resting at the Dupuis Funeral Home with the Funeral service to be held at Notre Dame de l'Annonciation Roman Catholic Church, Pré-d'en-Haut, Thursday, May 31, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. Interment in the Parish Cemetery.
